Arizmendi

Lately,i played Pro Evolution Soccer(PES) in master league, and i found a player called "Arizmendi". I bought him when i used to play Merseyside Red team in that league. It's quite interesting to have a player with high top speed, high acceleration, awsome body balance,a good sharpshooter with a great shot power. I was wondering if this kind of player does really exist in the real world,so i searched for Arizmendi videos on YouTube,to watch him in action. I was shocked! Why? Watch this video and give me your opinions.

THE ROLE OF DEFENDER

The defender's primary job is to deny penetration. The defender does this by preventing the attacker from either passing forward, dribbling toward the goal or shooting.

This is achieved through pressure and positioning. It's not enough to know what to do, if you aren't in position to do it.

Priorities for a pressuring defender

  1. Intercept balls passed to the attacker. If the defender can cut off a pass before the individual duel occurs, they've significantly decreased the offensive threat. The defender must be positioned goal-side of the attacker so they can see the ball and their attacker. This way, they're able to see where and how high the ball is being passed.

  2. Tackle the ball as the attacker makes their turn. If interception failed or wasn't possible, a good option is to tackle the ball before a confrontation with the offensive player.

  3. Force the attacker to screen the ball with their first touch. Don't allow the attacker an opportunity to turn with the ball and face the goal. A negative first touch means they are moving away from the defender and the goal while screening the ball from the defender.

  4. Tackle the attacker halfway through their turn as they attempt to face the defender. A good defender senses when the attacker has committed to turning and is prepared to win the ball when the attacker exposes it.

This is impossible to do unless the defender is within tackling range. As the attacker is shielding the ball and attempting to turn, the defender must keep two things in mind:

    • Never lean on the attacker. Good attackers use this over-commitment to their advantage by spinning and playing the ball into the space left open by the defender.
    • Never lose sight of the ball.

  5. Steer the attacker into the least dangerous space. Once the offensive player has turned, channel them into an area where they will do the least damage or into a supporting defender. Often, this will be the sideline.

The defender now attempts to set a trap. Here, the speed of the approach is crucial. If the defender tries to close down an attacker's space too quickly, the offensive player can play the ball quickly behind the defender, using the defender's speed and aggressiveness to their advantage. If done too slowly, the attacker is given ample time to gain the advantage.

  6. Recovery runs. If the defender is beaten, a recovery run toward the near post is the fastest way to get goal-side of the attacker. The object is to get in good defending position, between the goal and the ball, as quickly as possible.

FRAN MERIDA

I'm quite interested to talk about this young Gunners' player. Maybe some of you didn't know this player as he plays in Arsenal reserves team. He was born in Barcelona on 4th march 1990, and many people said that it is a big loss to Barcelona after he joined Arsenal.

Mérida joined the youth ranks of
FC Barcelona at the age of eight but left the club in September 2005 and was reportedly hidden away by his agent, Joseba Díaz leading to speculation that he would leave for England with no compensation for the Spanish club as was the case when Cesc Fàbregas joined Arsenal from Barcelona. Fran Merida's parents had become uneasy about all the young players joining Barcelona and felt that youngster would have a better chance elsewhere. Therefore, they approached Díaz, also Cesc Fabregas' agent, and he promptly alerted Real Madrid, A.C. Milan, and Arsenal. Barcelona's fears were realized when Mérida joined Arsenal without compensation, as he had not signed a contract with Barcelona.

He signed professional terms with Arsenal after his 17th birthday. He scored on his first team debut for Arsenal in a friendly against Boreham Wood in August 2006. His competitive first-team debut came on 25 September 2007, when he came on as a 91st minute substitute in Arsenal's 2-0 victory over Newcastle in the League Cup third round, and he made further substitute's appearances in a 3–0 win against Sheffield United in the fourth round, and a 3–2 win against Blackburn Rovers in the quarter-finals. On April 3 2008, Mérida extended his deal with Arsenal by signing a long-term (unspecified) contract, securing his future with Arsenal. He is expected to play an important role from next season as manager Arsène Wenger described him as "an absolutely amazing player". He made his first start for Arsenal in a 6–0 win over Sheffield United in the League Cup on September 23, 2008. He started on the left wing for the League Cup home tie again Wigan in November 2008 in which Arsenal won the game 3–0, with Merida playing the whole match. On March 2 2009, Arsene Wenger heaped praise on Fran, claiming the reason for him making the bench for the previous few first team games is because "He has been doing very, very well. He looks really good in training and is getting stronger all the time." Mérida spend the best part of February training with the first team and looks set to finish the season on the fringes of the squad. Just 3 days later, Mérida made his Premier League debut, coming off the bench for Samir Nasri with just 8 minutes to go in the 3–1 win at West Brom, hours before his 19th birthday. Mérida also finished the season by coming off the bench against Portsmouth.

YOUNG PROSPECTS

AIDEN MCGEADY

Aiden McGeady is one of the star players in Celtic Fc. Born in Glasgow, Scotland,he played for Republic of Ireland squad as his grandparents were an Irish. He can play either in left flank or right flank, this winger is a player that a world-class football team needed. During his teenage, Manchester United offered him a contract as he seems to be a good prospct for the future, but he refused to sign for MU and he finally signed for Celtic Fc. Sir Alex Ferguson said: "We had McGeady as a kid at Manchester. His father played with Sheffield United. We thought we were certs to sign him but his heart ruled his head and he signed for Celtic.

"We had him when he was about 15 years old and he came down two or three times. We also had his family down. His mother and father were there to discuss him joining United and we thought it was, more or less, buttoned-up.

"But we have to wait until they turn 16 and leave school, whereas Celtic and Rangers can button them up at 14.That is always a difficulty."

He has the ability to dribble well and he is also known by his "spin-skill" past the opponents.

LORENZO DI SILVESTRI

De Silvestri plays as an attacking right back. His pace is useful for his attacking runs up the wing, and possibly his greatest attribute. Since making his debut, De Silvestri has continued to improve the technical and tactical aspects of his game under the guidance of manager Delio Rossi.

On 26 August 2009 ACF Fiorentina have signed the right-back from S.S. Lazio on a five-year deal, he will be presented to the press in Florence on 27 August

Since September 2007 he is a member of Italy U-21 squad. He was also called up to play at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

In August 2009, Lorenzo was chosen to captain the Italy U-21 team.
